Auboni Hart has joined the team at the family power-building educational advocacy non-profit as a communications and operations coordinator

INDIANAPOLIS (April 7, 2022) – EmpowerED Families, an Indianapolis-based organization that builds family power through relationships and rallies behind the strengths of parents to fight for educational equity, has announced the addition of Auboni Hart as Communications and Operations Coordinator. 

“We are deeply honored to have such a skilled and passionate advocate join our team”, said Ontay Johnson, Executive Director. “Auboni is a dynamic communicator, strategic thinker and servant leader who no doubt will make a great impact.”

Auboni Hart is a local poet and entrepreneur who is passionate about the performing Arts and activism. As Co-operator for That Peace Open Mic, Indy’s premier talent hub, she and founder/CEO Mariah Ivey carve intentional spaces to amplify the voices of Black artists and artists of color in Greater Indianapolis. She is also the founder and CEO of Hart-to-Hart, LLC a marketing consulting firm. Previously, she served as Project Manager for Artistry Studios where she managed digital marketing campaigns, SEO analytics-reporting and analysis, and website creation and maintenance for clients.

“I believe art can be activism and I believe activism is an art”, said Hart. “EmpowerED Families uses voices as a form of activism. I hope to bring an inspiring, energizing, and go-getter spirit to the team…to move the work forward.”

Hart is a recent graduate of Butler University with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. She remains active in her community as a member of the Community Engagement and Worship Teams at SOMA Northwest and serving as event planner for New Society’s March for a Million. In her role as Communications and Operations Coordinator, Hart will oversee the marketing and communications needs, assist with day-to-day operations and connect with Indianapolis parents, advocates and families.
