Neighborhood Education Advocates

What is a Neighborhood Education Advocate (NEA)?

NEA’s link residents and business owners with high-performing schools to enhance families’ and the community’s understanding of important K-12 education issues. They help create stronger connections between each group for the benefit of students and families.

NEA’s understand that parents and families make their communities stronger and stronger communities enhance schools. Similarly, stronger schools enhance students’ experiences and academic growth.

NEA’s help Indianapolis neighborhoods and communities by…

  • Listening to and amplifying the concerns of parents within the neighborhood ensuring their voices are heard and needs addresses in the educational settings.

  • Regularly engaging with parents and community stakeholders through surveys, meetings, and informal conversations to gather feedback on educational issues and neighborhood needs.

  • Organizing and facilitating community meetings to discuss educational topics, address concerns, and plan collective actions, ensuring an inclusive platform for all voices.

Who are NEAs?

NEAs are parents, students, and Indianapolis community members who want to take an active role in K-12 education-related community outreach and advocacy.
